Today I realised how disruptive my class can be. For the past year in 2C I have seen my class being mischevious amd naughty. But today the class had broken all the previous records. But I am disgraced to say that I was one of the people who caused trouble today.
It was chemistry lesson and we were waiting for our chemistry teacher, Mrs Peh. Mrs Peh was a teacher with a lot of patience and she knew how to control her anger very well. In the whole she was a good teacher. After waiting for a couple of minutes she arrived and told us that we were going to the lab. I was very happy because lab lessons were always very interesting as there was a lot of hands-on activities and it was very interesting.
Today my class was much more quieter than other days when we move to the science lab. I was happy that we were not told to stand outside and wait until we were quiet like the other day. I was pleased. When we went inside we were told to do the experiment to the the presence of gases(hydrogen and carbon dioxide). It may sound simple you try it.
Especially when your class is so good and they do things which are not in the book( i was one of them). For example I and some of my friends dipped the splinter into the mixture of extracted coffe concentrate and copper(II) oxide and burnt it in the flame. This causes what you call a 'green' flame to form. This amazed alot of my classmates and the started doing the same thing to. Some resulted into pouring the mixture on the table to ease the dipping. As the mixture was brown in colour it dirtied the table alot.
Next there was one of my classmate who forgot the basic rules of heating a aubstance. The substance was the same mixture I talked about earlier. When you are heating a substance you should point the mouth test-tube away from anyone. But this person pointed it towards himself. That was his first mistake. The second mistake was that it was stated clearly to warm the substane gently. And this friend of mine heated in strong flame. Because of this act the mixture bubbled out of the test- tube and spilt on his shirt. And as i have said the mixture is brown. So it dirtied the floor and his shirt. The best thing was that he was not scalded by the hot substance.
Because of this Mrs Peh made the whole class sacrifice half of our recess to clean the lab. Worst of all we had given a bad impression of our class to her. So I am disappointed by what had happened in the lab today. I hope this would be the last time I see such thing happen.
